I'm dazzled...

χαρης, originally uploaded by kallia fisaraki.

No, really. I'm dazzled because in this picture I see a friend of mine and I almost can't recognize him. Though the hippy summer look plays its part in this, I'd bet my head it's the photographer's "fault". Because I've seen recent pictures of her, and I see people, my close friends, the ones I see all day every day, and I can't even recognize them. She has the talent to show aspects of people in her photographs that they can't see. Can I do that? I have no fucking idea... If my bizarre monologue convinced you a bit, take a look at her flickr
You might not understand what I'm talking about, but she's got lovely portraits

Leaving town...

IMG_3030
Lots of things have been written by lots of people concerning travel packing. Some pack only what they're able to carry, others travel with tons of luggage, waiting for some kind (or paid) person to carry them. And items of clothing... there comes the big dilemma: what to pack, what to wear.
I've lived in two countries and traveled a lot back and forth (and to other countries) so I could give one advice or two, based on my personal belief on traveling.

  1. I never carry more than I can handle. I have no intention of paying anyone to carry my own stuff so I usually take a trolley suitcase and my handbag. And ocasionaly, my laptop.
  2. I tend to find key pieces. A black dress, booties with a comfortable heel (my all time favorites), lots of different stockings and socks and pashminas.
  3. Black is a colour matching with anything. So I tend to have more black clothes that anything else. Generally, and while travelling.
  4. You can always put a dazzling dress between your everyday clothes. You never know when you'll need one. Just don't take one that takes half the space of your suitcase.
  5. When you travel, you'd better wear things you're comfortable with. No heels larger than life, no micromini skirts, no cleavage. And if by any chance you're traveling by plane, avoid to drink alcohol. It usualy gives a terrible headache when you're landing
I tried to talk generally but, truth is, I'm inspired by my own suitcase and I'm going to a cold town in the north of Greece for few days and I usually don't wear pants. I hope I've been helpful and, ps, I can't wait for the trip!!!!

Two girls that haven't slept that much

no sleep
This image could be a part of my recent "take a picture of your schoolyear" project. But it'd rather not be. Take it as an individual : friends and fellow architect students, tired from their current project, Renaissance-ized by the tones of the polaroid film (Artistic TZ).

I kinda love this one

Dinner at Andrews

IMG_2995IMG_3001
Last weekend I found myself in my hometown, having dinner in Andrew's house. His house is probably the best one, most silent yet classy in the whole city.

Ps. The hunter boots on my little friend- niece are to die foooooor!!!

The all time shoe

IMG_2977
These are my latest booties. I've had trouble buying them, though. You see, they're a bit too rough and short- heeled compared to the rest of my shoes (I'm not talking about the flat ones). But I was wrong hesitating. They've become my autumn-winter passe-partout. Because the heel is comfortable enough to walk all day on them and they give a dark, goth yet classy touch to every look.

Here they are with their big brothers, the 12 cm heeled oxfords I dearly love.

PS. I haven't abandoned my project, but I'm using slide film so it might take some time...

I say a warm welcome to inspiration

It's autumn and I'm willing to make another change to the nature of this blog. What has started as a personal style diary has, during this year and someting evolved into a place where you can find photojournalism, fashion weeks, travel information, my life (uh), polaroids, whatever. I intend to move this place a step forward. I've gotten myself a new project : to photograph all the people in my schoolyear, one by one. It's going to be about fashion, style, identity. And what's the best; they don't know it yet. But, with any means, from digital to polaroid (even phone if I'm desperate) and from my friends to the ones I know the least, I intend to do this. Wish me luck!

it's all about the details

I developped my first film myself (with lots of guidance from the Photography crew, I admit). A Tmax expired in 2006, which is probably the reason of the sepia tones present in some of the pictures. Even though I forgot to remove the water from the film in the end and died over photoshop to remove the drops, what can I say...me likey!

In situations like this...

Well, once upon a time, I had some friends fighting in my house. And I had an event to attend. And I decided to leave them in my house and go. So they asked: "Do you have a reason to go out or are you leaving us alone?".I looked at my outfit and said: "Would I dress up like this if I were to just leave you alone?". And they said"Oh wouldn't you?"

...well...they're right.
